...to test out a guitar amp?

I'm Craigslisting someone and we're meeting halfway, but we each want to test the other's guitar gear before trading. Hopefully gettin' one of these by giving away the Crybaby.

University?

find an empty room, plug, play (though I recommend quietly as you can)

Try and find the music building.

I think Walmart parking lot light bases generally have plug-ins. Don't hold me to that though.

At my local park, where the gazebos are, they have outlets... also many light posts have outlets... I'm pretty sure many stores like Target and Walmart have them

I'd just go to a guitar store and try it out.

This is one reason why every car should have a 110 outlet built in...

If there is anything more useful in a Walmart parking lot than a dirty diaper, I'd be surprised.

Someone else mentioned Walmart, so I might give that a bit of research.

I mostly wanna make sure everything with it works ok, and its an old model that isn't in stores. I'd feel kinda weird trying out someone else's gear in a store. Is that weird?

Small town w/out university. Otherwise that'd be a solid option.

Except sports cars, maybe. But vans/trucks/peoplemovers - yes.

It seems weird to me to walk into a store, and test out merchandise that isn't theirs. Its like, a milder version of having sex on a friend's bed or something.

Hey man, what is more rock n' roll than pulling up in say, a Camaro, and plugging in your amp and shredding in the parking lot?

That reminds me of that one VW they sold a while back that had some Aux input, and they had an ad of a dude (I don't remember what famous guitarist) plugging in a shredding. I thought it was awesome.

That was Slash, the dude who made me want to play. I actually thought of that commercial too while typing my reply. You bought the VW and you got a shitty guitar that plugs into the stereo. I found one on eBay and I like the knurled VW knobs (description is also funny). It seems to have a preamp built in, which gives some distortion before sending signal to the car speakers.

Now, that kind system is not going to give very good sound, but I wonder how hard it would be to A) install a 1/4" jack as an AUX input into a head unit and, B) Maybe somehow integrate a more respectable amp into the stereo system.

I'm off to do some research because that would be a cool, and useful thing to have.

I mean, try that amp out in the store. Go to a guitar center or something. If they ask, just act like you're thinking about trading it in or something.

I thought it was Slash, I just couldn't remember. haha
What would be super easy: these days you can just plug a 3.5 mm jack into the stereo. So you just need a 1/4-3.5 converter (they make those) and then you need a preamp between the stereo and the guitar. And I think the easiest way to do that would be to just take the 12V cig-lighter from the car down to 9v and run a couple guitar pedals - maybe a distortion and an EQ. And then, boom, car guitar.

Yeah, I think I might even have one of those adapters. Might have to give it a shot.
